Kolkata is a city, rich in history and culture. It’s deep seated roots renders the city unchanged over decades. Time stands still and there is a pull towards the ‘comfort zone’. Its warm, its sheltered, its relaxed and to Kolkatans that is home!
The picture below depicts much more than the Victoria Memorial.
A tourist spot crowded with locals on a weekday morning. The yellow ambassador stands strong and tall, gleaming in the sunlight. People dressed more for comfort than fashion. These qualities are endearing and worth holding on to. But there is also a world outside that we need to embrace. A body will remain in its state of rest unless an external force is applied on it. And we do need that force everyday of our lives to not only move but to also move in the right direction. We need to get out of our comfort zone to progress. We need to carry our culture wherever we go, embrace other cultures , learn, assimilate, mutate for a better tomorrow. Lets hope we not only inspire ourselves but each other too!
